Journaling Your Journey
When starting your fertility journey you may feel excited, anxious, or uncertain about what the future holds for you.
One way to explore and process your fertility journey is through journaling. Journaling can help you clarify your goals, express your feelings, and gain insights into your inner world. In this blog, I want to offer you some journaling prompts as an opportunity to practice self-curiosity.
These prompts are designed to help you reflect on your values, fears, and hopes, and to find a sense of meaning and purpose in your experience.
Journaling Prompts
1. What are my goals and values regarding fertility care? What is most important to me in this process? What are my expectations and fears regarding IVF or egg preservation? What are my hopes and dreams for the future, and how does fertility fit into them?
2. What does success mean to me in fertility care? How would I define success in terms of health and emotional well-being? How would I measure success, and what outcomes would be acceptable or desirable? What are my expectations and fears regarding possible outcomes, and how can I cope with them?
3. What are the practical and emotional challenges I face in fertility care? How do I cope if I feel emotional stress, anxiety, and uncertainty? What strategies can I use to take care of myself and find support from others?
4. How does fertility care affect my identity, relationships, and self-esteem? What are the social and cultural expectations and norms surrounding fertility, pregnancy, and parenthood, and how do they influence me? How do I communicate and negotiate with my partner, family, friends, and coworkers about my fertility journey? How do I protect my privacy, boundaries, and self-respect?
5. What happens if fertility care fails? What are my options and choices for the future, and how do they align with my goals and values? How can I find meaning and purpose in my experience, even if it does not lead to pregnancy or biological parenthood?
